Aspen is famous for its powdery ski trails and well-heeled clientele. In addition to being a paradise for hardcore skiers, Aspen is a prime spot for people-watching in the winter months. Celebrities and the mega-rich arrive in droves to ski and party après ski.
The new watch from Hublot, the Hublot Classic Fusion Aerofusion Aspen Snowmass Limited Edition, evokes this winter wonderland, and not just any winter wonderland, but one that’s a mecca for passionate skiers, the world over.
Aspen’s “sense of community, coupled with breathtaking beauty and remarkable experiences make, it internationally beloved,” said Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe in a press release. “We are honored to call Aspen Snowmass our partner and wish the vibrant town and its people the same success and happiness for the next 75 years to come.”
For these and other reasons, Hublot chose wisely when they signed on to be the official timekeeper of Aspen Snowmass.
Hublot brand clocks help skiers keep track of time and are ubiquitous at ski lifts and snow stakes. Plus, the recently unveiled Gondola Square clock tower features a Hublot clock.
It might seem like overkill, but keeping time is necessary for skiers, and wearing a watch isn’t too practical under cold-weather gear, although some people do. So, with the Hublot clocks, skiers know at a glance if they can do one more run, or if it’s time for Après ski cocktails.
January 2022 marks the 75th Anniversary of Aspen Snowmass, and Hublot’s new Hublot Classic Fusion Aerofusion Aspen Snowmass Limited Edition incorporates design features paying tribute to the storied mountains.
The watch’s 45mm case is crafted of satin-finished and polished black ceramic. Its white ceramic bezel pays tribute to the snowy wonderland and features six Hublot H-shaped screws. The watch’s second hand features an Aspen tree leaf. High shine titanium pays homage to the silver mining heritage of the Rockies, according to Hublot. The watch’s strap is crafted of black rubber overlaid with white calfskin leather.
The Hublot Classic Fusion Aerofusion Aspen Snowmass’ caseback is engraved “Special Edition 75th Anniversary,” and each watch is individually numbered. Meanwhile, the sapphire crystal caseback features the Aspen Snowmass logo.
Finally, visible from the front and back, the watch houses a skeletonized Caliber Hublot HUB1155 Self- Winding chronograph movement with a 42-hours power reserve.
“As we celebrate 75 years of heritage and innovation, it is important to celebrate with our partners who have also been on the leading edge of design and functionality,” Aspen Skiing Company President & CEO Mike Kaplan said. “Hublot brings a vision to this project that aligns well with what we do and who we are as a company.”
